We love Mike and Shirley at Mill Creek Kennels. Their facilities are first class and their genuine love of dogs is apparent in the level of care they give them. We've had dogs in various levels of gun dog training with Mike,
and I like Mike's training style and the way he instills basics in the dogs. He's able to give one-on-one attention to the dogs in training and kenneling because the kennel is on site and he has nice grounds on his farm for training.

I have known Mike Simmons of Mill Creek Kennel on several levels for over two years now. Mike has been a duck hunting companion, a trainer, a fellow handler, a breeder, and a friend. Over the last two years I have watched Mike's dogs perform from the rice field pits of Missouri to the back water blinds of the Hatchie in west Tennessee and to the test grounds of HRC and AKC retriever tests. After countless days of watching these dogs perform in a wide range of environments I must say without a doubt that Mike's methods and tactics as a trainer are PROVEN! Mike has helped me train through issues with my personal dog as well as mentoring me through the hunt test circuit as a handler. Without Mike, neither me nor my dog (Abby) would be where we are today. Thank you Mike for helping Abby attain her HRCH title!
As for Mike's facilities at Mill Creek, they are impeccable! His training grounds and waters are a trainer's paradise and his kennels and runs are without a doubt the cleanest and most well kept I have ever encountered. Mike and Shirley work tirelessly to maintain a safe and healthy environment for all dogs at their facility. If you are looking for a top notch facility to train or board your dog, Mill Creek is where you need to be!
I would also like to add that HRCH Sur-Shot's Absolute Vanilla (Abby) is the product of the breeding done between two of Mike's personal dogs. Max and CoCo. I am a firm believer that if you are looking for a high powered retrieving machine that has what it takes between the ears then you need to contact Mike about any upcoming litters out of this bloodline or any other litters sired by Max. Max is a proven producer of excellent offspring!

I was thrilled to have Mill Creek Kennels open near my home in Cedar Grove, TN.
Knowing my 2 dogs Gracie and Daphne are secure and safe while I'm traveling is a huge relief. Their facility is designed so my Australian shepherd can be out on her own in an enclosed grassy area to run around and exercise.
My dogs are exceptionally well taken care of by professionals who love dogs and also recognize the anxiety they can feel being separated from their familiar environment and their human family.

Our seven-month old puppy, Nola, stayed at Mill Creek Kennels for a week. She was very well taken care of and loved on doing her "vacation" at the Simmons. We received several pictures of her giving lots of kisses to Mike and Shirley!

As a no-kill pet rescue group, we are often required to house dogs long-term for physical or emotional rehabilitation prior to adoption. We have been utilizing Mill Creek Kennels for our boarding and training needs since their opening last summer, and consistently recommend them to family and friends. Mill Creek is sparkling clean, and the dogs have a gorgeous country setting in which to exercise, train, and play.
With rescue, one can always expect the unexpected, but Mill Creek has gone out of their way to accommodate us in every way possible. The Simmons’ expertise and love of animals is evident by the way they treat the dogs in their care, and they always go the extra mile to ensure the health, safety, and comfort of our dogs. Their customer service has exceeded all expectations, and I can’t imagine a better place for any dog that has to be away from home. With Mike and Shirley, we know our dogs are not just boarders; they’re treated with the same level of loving care as if they were the Simmons’ own family pets.

After my knee surgery, it was obvious I needed help in teaching my 7 month old female labradoodle basic obedience. She constantly pulled on me and ignored my commands. I contacted Mill Creek Kennels, and with Mike’s help designed a basic program that would address many issues I was facing with my dog, Yonnie. Yonnie and I are learning together and are having a great time. The training has been wonderful and we are just about finished. I can now walk with Yonnie off leash and have her heel, sit, stay and come on command. NO MORE TUGGING. Mill Creek Kennels is a wonderful place to bring your dog for training.
